The Judges and Solicitors Retirement System

The Judges and Solicitors Retirement System (JSRS) was created July 1, 1979, to provide a defined benefit retirement plan for South Carolina’s public judges and solicitors. Membership is mandatory upon employment as Chief Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court, Associate Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court, Court of Appeals Judge, Circuit Court Judge, Family Court Judge, Solicitor, or Circuit Public Defender prior to age 72.

Since benefits vary for both active and retired members as well as for judges and for solicitors, please contact the Retirement Systems for more information.
