Employer Training
Each month, the Retirement Systems offers comprehensive two-day
employer training sessions in its Columbia office for benefits
administrators, payroll personnel, human resource officials, and others
involved in the administration of public employee benefits. Retirement
Systems' staff conduct this training in small, informal sessions which
encourages group participation and welcomes questions or comments. The
curriculum focuses on beginner-based training but also covers new
procedures and updates mandated by legislation and policy changes. The
following topics are included:
These classes are extremely popular and
usually are filled months in advance. These presentations are ideal for
new employees who will be working in these particular areas and provide
a solid overall training for managers. Often, there are repeat attendees
who desire refresher training.
In certain cases, the Retirement Systems
offers limited on-site employer training, such as New Employer
Orientation presentations.
