By law, all state agencies, public schools, and higher education institutions are participating employers. Other political subdivisions within the state have the option of joining the Retirement Systems.
If your organization is interested in learning more about becoming a participating employer and would like for the Retirement Systems to determine your organization’s eligibility, complete an Employer Eligibility Determination Request (Form 6500) and send it, along with the requested attachments, to the Retirement Systems. Our legal staff will review your completed Form 6500 and the accompanying statute or ordinance creating your organization, articles of incorporation, and bylaws (if applicable).
